Before sunrise on the first day of the week, several faithful women made their way to the tomb where Jesus Christ had been laid following His crucifixion. Carrying spices to complete the customary burial preparations, they expected to find a sealed tomb guarded by a massive stone.

Instead, they encountered the greatest miracle in human history.

The heavy stone had already been rolled away.

“Do not be afraid. I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said.”

The women stood in astonishment as fear gave way to overwhelming joy. Death had been defeated. The promises spoken throughout Christ’s ministry had been fulfilled. The empty tomb became the greatest evidence that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that His victory over sin and death was complete.
