Holy Hill — Wisconsin's Hill of Faith

High above the rolling countryside of southeastern Wisconsin stands one of the state's most recognizable landmarks.

The towering twin spires of the National Shrine of Mary, Help of Christians, better known simply as Holy Hill, have welcomed pilgrims, travelers, and visitors for generations.

During the mid-nineteenth century, stories spread that a priest had placed a simple wooden cross atop the hill, inspiring people throughout the region to visit the site for prayer and worship.

As the number of visitors increased, the Carmelite Fathers established a permanent presence, eventually constructing the magnificent church that overlooks the surrounding forests and farmland today.

Completed in 1931, the shrine quickly became one of Wisconsin's most important religious destinations.

Each year, thousands of visitors climb the observation tower, attend services, and enjoy the peaceful walking trails that surround the property.

Beyond its religious significance, Holy Hill has become a symbol of Wisconsin's rich cultural heritage.
